Independence and Accessibility for Stacey
A safe, sensory garden brings independence and accessibility to young girl with cerebral palsy.
Stacey has cerebral palsy and has limited opportunities to take part in activities away from home. She enjoys growing fruit and vegetables with her friends at her local day centre.
As Stacey and Susan’s garden at home is currently a large concrete area with little greenery or planting, our Trustees have made a donation towards creating an independent sensory garden at Stacey’s home in Minster on Sea.
Toni Brady, Axis Resident Liaison Officer, applied to the Axis Foundation for support for Stacey and her family, who are Southern Housing residents. Toni met them whilst assisting at their home with their wet room repairs.
The space will give Stacey, her mum Susan and their friends a safe, accessible place to enjoy gardening, socialise and grow fruit and vegetables.
“This garden will give me a lovely space to enjoy with my mum and friends, grow things and spend more time outdoors” – Stacey Webb
