Supporting Joshua’s confidence, dignity and quality of life
Sunny Days Children’s Fund supports children under 18 living with serious illness, disability, terminal illness and other life-limiting conditions.
Our Trustees donated £5,190 to enable them to purchase specialist equipment in the form of Bilateral Mobile Arm Supports for Joshua, a child with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
As Joshua’s condition progresses, he is experiencing increasing weakness in his shoulders, upper arms and trunk, making everyday tasks more difficult.
His Occupational Therapist recommended the specialist equipment – it will help Joshua use his arms more independently, improve his access to education and technology, reduce fatigue and discomfort, and support his confidence, dignity and quality of life. The equipment will also benefit his family and caregivers.

Sunny Days Children’s Fund was established in 2006 and supports children and families in Braintree, Essex and across the wider area.
The charity provides practical support to children under 18 living with serious illness, disability, terminal illness and other life-hindering conditions. Its support can include specialist equipment, medical travel, comfort items, home adaptations, crisis grants and respite breaks.
Requests for support can come from families, hospitals, social workers, Occupational Therapists and other professionals. The charity assesses each request carefully to identify practical support for children and their families.
